The auction of 3007 lots includes the postal history collection of Richard W. Helbock, the "Chicago" Swiss collection, rare Aerophilately, the Portuguese collection of Paul Costa and mostly premium quality U.S. from the David Barton collection. Proceeds from the Barton collection will benefit equally the Shaare Zadek Medical Center and the Weizmann Institute of Science
The Worldwide auction will be held in 3 sessions.
The 1st session on Thursday afternoon at 6:00 p.m. will contain 950 single lots of Foreign highlighted by China with P.R.C.; Iceland, Mexico and extensive Switzerland (120 lots); Commonwealth with classic Great Britain; Canada & Provinces with modern varieties including 1959 Seaway Invert and 2003 "Missing Moose"; excellent Aerophilately with autographs and Trans-Oceanics including the 1933 solo flight by Wiley Post followed by FAMs, Rocket flights with 1959 Regulas flight (E-Z #27), and Space. This will be followed by 300 U.S. Postal History lots with the 3rd known (newly discovered) cover of the 1909 Seattle June 23rd Expo Station Pan-Pacific cancel, and highlighted by the Helbock collection of States, Forts, WWII including APOs, Censors, and Philippines blockade covers
The 2nd session on Friday at 5:00 p.m. will consist of U.S. singles, one of the largest sections we have had in some time. The 1150 lots will be highlighted by high grade 1893 Columbians, 1898 Trans-Mississippi ($2 n.h. Grade 98!) and later values; #511a with transitional perf in block of 4 (Grade 95); #1610c; rare Airpost errors including #C60b, C72d, and extensive "Back-of-the Book" with rare booklets (not on the market for decades) highlighted by #BK9. Following will be a Confederate section, and Possessions with Hawaii Numerals.
The 3rd session on Saturday at 6.00 p.m. will consist of 900 U.S. and Worldwide Collections. The U.S. "Collections & Various" of 340+ lots beginning with Autographs and Ephemera, will include "Postage and Modern", large groupings of "Back-of-the-Book" with a separate Revenue section, "Possessions", "Postal History", and "Postcards". The auction will continue with 150 Commonwealth country and general collections with Great Britain; and Canada & Provinces. The Foreign Country collections are highlighted by China; France & Colonies; Germany; Italy & Colonies; Japan; Mexico; the Costa collection of Portugal & Colonies; and Switzerland featuring the balance of the "Chicago" collection. This is followed by Foreign general collections. As always, the sale continues with Worldwide collections, a Postal History section, and finishes with topical collections, literature and supplies.
