U.S.; General Issue Covers, 1879, 2¢, 3¢ on Advertising to Siberia, #183-184, single weight cover addressed with San Francisco SEP 4 (1880) cancel, to Edward Huff, Nikolaevsk, Amoor River, Eastern Siberia, via St. Petersburg, entered the Russian system near the Prussian border (16 Sept-Julian/20 Sept Gregorian), Perm-Ekaterinburg railroad (train cancel #81), it took 40 days more or less to get to Irkutsk probably along the post road via Omsk (Nov 3/Nov 16), probably continued on to Stretensk along the post road and though no further postal cancels appear, it likely traveled along the Shika and Amur rivers to Nikolaevsk, cover a bit tattered, but all things considered, it's survival is a near miracle, great exhibit piece, Fine. Estimate $600-800.
